January and the Trade Show circuit
It is mid January and we are firmly in the midst of the trade show circuit! They are taking place all around us. The Atlanta Gift Show (U.S.) and Top Drawer (U.K.) just ended. The Las Vegas Gift Show (January 28 – February 1st) will be starting next week. New York Now, Birmingham Spring Fair (U.K.) and Ambiente (Germany) will be starting shortly thereafter. It can be completely overwhelming, especially after a very full holiday season. It hardly feels like one has any down time and there are many who have decided to forgo the trade show circuit entirely as a result.
But as a greeting card company that participates in several trade shows a year, New York NOW (two times a year), Las Vegas Gift Show (two times a year) as well as in smaller regional trade shows in Seattle, WA, Boston, MA, and Columbus, Ohio, we see the need and value. I felt it worth it to qualify that value to all of you.
Gain knowledge and exposure to new trends, products and resources. The key to being successful in this industry is to offer something special and different! You need to go to trade shows for simply that reason alone.
Network. Honestly, this is a perfect opportunity to stimulate new ideas and creative ways to support your business, despite the current economy and past seasons.
Expose yourself to the press attending trade shows so they can also help you highlight your business.
Have fun! This is the thing--it can’t be work all the time. Getting out of your store helps provide you with a better perspective on your business.
